Aussie Doodle Dog Registration
General Appearance:
The Aussiepoo is a beloved designer breed, created by crossing an Australian Shepherd with a Poodle. These dogs make fantastic companions, known for their playful and friendly nature. Aussiepoos are small to medium-sized, standing between 10 to 15 inches tall, with a coat that can be wavy or curly and often hypoallergenic. Their coat colors vary widely, including blue merle, red merle, black and red tri, black and tan, parti, sable, and in rare cases, solid colors.
Proportion and Symmetry:
Inheriting physical traits from the Australian Shepherd, the Aussiepoo has a body that is slightly longer than it is tall, maintaining balanced proportions and symmetry.
Substance:
Despite their moderate size, Aussiepoos can weigh anywhere from 25 to 70 pounds. They typically live between 10 to 13 years. Their coat tends to shed an average amount, making regular grooming necessary.
Head:
The head of an Aussiepoo is clean-cut, strong, and dry. Its size is well proportioned to the body. The muzzle length is equal to or slightly shorter than the back skull. From a side view, the top line of the back skull and muzzle run parallel, separated by a well-defined stop. The muzzle tapers slightly toward the rounded tip. Regular cleaning of teeth and ears is important for maintaining good hygiene.
Body:
The chest is deep but not broad, with the lowest point reaching the elbows. The ribs are well sprung and long, avoiding both barrel chest and slab-sided appearances. The underline shows a moderate tuck-up, contributing to the breed’s agility.
Forequarters:
Aussiepoos have long, flat, and fairly close-set shoulder blades that are well laid back. The upper arm is roughly the same length as the shoulder blade and attaches at about a right angle, with straight and strong forelegs. The bone structure is strong and oval-shaped rather than round. Pasterns are medium length and slightly sloped. Front dewclaws may be removed. Feet are oval, compact with close-knit, well-arched toes and thick resilient pads.
Coat:
Their coat is medium texture, ranging from straight to wavy, weather-resistant, and medium in length. The undercoat varies depending on the climate. Hair is short and smooth on the head, ears, forelegs, and below the hocks, with moderate feathering on the backs of forelegs and britches. A moderate mane and frill is more pronounced in males.
Color:
Aussiepoos display a variety of colors typical for Aussiedoodles: blue merle, red merle, black and red tri, black and tan, parti, sable, and occasionally solid colors.
Gait:
This breed moves with a smooth, free, and easy gait, showcasing agility and a well-balanced, ground-covering stride. Fore and hind legs move parallel to the body’s centerline, converging toward the center of gravity at higher speeds. The Aussiepoo must be agile and capable of quick direction or gait changes.
Temperament:
Aussiepoos are playful, intelligent, and loyal dogs that require daily exercise, such as regular walks, to maintain their mental and physical health.
