Designer Kennel Club is the only registry in the world that recognizes the Fluffy French Bulldog breed created by legendary French Bulldog breeder, Don Chino. 

 

• General Appearance: The Fluffy French Bulldog has the appearance of functionality, intelligence, muscular with proportional bone structure, healthy coat, compact, and of small structure. Blocky head with standing ears, straight toppling. Friendly and protective.

 

• Proportion & Symmetry: No feature being in such prominence from either excess or lack of quality that the animal appears poorly proportioned.

 

• Substance: Weight 15-25 pounds

• Head: Blocky and proportional to body. 

 

• Body: Width and length proportional. Compact with function.

• Coat: Long fur or hair coat, healthy, smooth or silky. Hypoallergenic accepted. 

 

• Color: Acceptable colors: white, cream, fawn (ranging from light fawn to a red fawn), blue (dilute), chocolate (recessive), lilac or any combinations of the foregoing. Markings and patterns are: brindle, piebald, tri-color (tan points), merle, black masks, black shadings, and white markings. Ticking is acceptable but not desired.

The Fluffy French Bulldog was created in 2019 by legendary breeder Don Chino, a world-renowned French Bulldog breeder and animal scientist known for introducing the Modern French Bulldog and developing the Texas Brand Bloodline — spanning over nine generations. After years of genetic research and DNA testing, Don Chino unveiled the world's first Fluffy French Bulldog by isolating the fluffy-dominant gene (F/n), producing a French Bulldog with a long, silky, low-shedding coat that is often hypoallergenic. This 2019 breakthrough ignited a cultural movement in the Frenchie breeding community, with the Fluffy French Bulldog becoming one of the most sought-after designer breeds in the United States within just a few years. Puppies commonly sell for $5,000–$20,000 depending on coat, color, and lineage.

Despite the Fluffy French Bulldog's widespread popularity, neither the American Kennel Club (AKC), the United Kennel Club (UKC), nor the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) recognizes the Fluffy French Bulldog as a distinct breed. AKC, UKC, and CKC register only the standard short-coat French Bulldog. This creates a significant documentation problem for Fluffy Frenchie owners: their dog's breed is not officially recognized by any of these major registries. Some Fluffy French Bulldogs end up with AKC papers that simply say "French Bulldog" — which is factually incorrect as a breed classification, either because AKC does not offer a Fluffy French Bulldog category, or because the owner registered their dog as a standard French Bulldog on purpose or by mistake. Either way, the paperwork does not accurately reflect the dog's true breed.

Designer Kennel Club (DKC) is the only registry in the world that officially recognizes the Fluffy French Bulldog as a distinct breed — not as a French Bulldog variant, but as its own registered breed with its own breed standard established by Don Chino and documented by DKC. When you register your Fluffy French Bulldog with DKC, the registration papers state "Breed: Fluffy French Bulldog" — the correct breed name that accurately reflects what your dog actually is. DKC Foundation Dog Registration ($65) accepts any Fluffy French Bulldog regardless of existing papers. Dogs with AKC papers that incorrectly say "French Bulldog" can be correctly registered with DKC as "Fluffy French Bulldog" with no conflict.
