The Irish Doodle — also known as the Irish Setterpoo, Irish Setter Doodle, Irish Poo Setter, Irish Doodle Setter, and Irish Setterdoodle — is a designer breed created by crossing an Irish Setter with a Poodle, typically a Standard Poodle. Embarkvet notes the Irish Doodle may have originated in the United States in the 1980s or 1990s when intentional crossbreeding started gaining popularity. The breed combines the Irish Setter's elegant, chestnut-coated, bird-dog athleticism with the Poodle's renowned intelligence and low-shedding hypoallergenic coat. A Mini Irish Doodle variant also exists, created by crossing an Irish Setter with a Miniature Poodle — producing a smaller dog typically weighing 25–35 pounds compared to the standard Irish Doodle's 40–70 pounds. The Irish Doodle's striking red-to-apricot coat, athletic build, and affectionate personality have made it one of the most visually distinctive Poodle mix breeds available.

PetMD confirms that because Irish Doodles are a relatively recent mix, they are not recognized as an official breed. The American Kennel Club (AKC) does not register Irish Doodles, Irish Setterpoos, or any Irish Setter and Poodle cross. AKC registers purebred Irish Setters and purebred Poodles individually, but any cross between the two is permanently ineligible for AKC registration regardless of generation (F1, F1B, or Multigen).
