• General Appearance: The Miniature French Bulldog has the appearance of functionality, intelligence, muscular with proportional bone structure, healthy coat, compact, and of small structure. Blocky head with standing ears, straight toppling. Friendly and protective. 

 

• Proportion & Symmetry: No feature being in such prominence from either excess or lack of quality that the animal appears poorly proportioned.

 

• Substance: Weight 12-22 pounds

• Coat: Healthy and smooth. All coats accepted. 

 

• Color: Acceptable colors: white, cream, fawn (ranging from light fawn to a red fawn), blue (dilute), chocolate (recessive), lilac or any combinations of the foregoing. Markings and patterns are: brindle, piebald, tri-color (tan points), merle, black masks, black shadings, and white markings. Ticking is acceptable but not desired.

Don Chino, recognized internationally as the world's most influential French Bulldog breeder and a Harvard Animal Scientist, developed the Miniature French Bulldog as a distinct breed with its own breed standard, establishing the size classification (12–22 pounds), proportions, and temperament characteristics that define the Miniature French Bulldog as separate from the standard French Bulldog. Despite the Miniature French Bulldog's growing popularity and distinct breed standard, neither the American Kennel Club (AKC), United Kennel Club (UKC), nor Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) recognizes the Miniature French Bulldog as a distinct breed. All three registries classify any French Bulldog — regardless of size — simply as "French Bulldog." This creates a critical documentation problem for Miniature French Bulldog owners: their dog's papers do not accurately reflect its breed. A Miniature French Bulldog owner with AKC papers receives a certificate stating "Breed: French Bulldog" — which does not identify the dog's distinct size classification, distinct breed standard, or the specific breeding program that produced it.

Designer Kennel Club (DKC) is the only registry in the world that officially recognizes the Miniature French Bulldog as a distinct breed. When you register your Miniature French Bulldog with DKC, your registration papers clearly state "Breed: Miniature French Bulldog" — the correct, complete breed name that accurately reflects what your dog is. DKC Foundation Dog Registration ($65) accepts any Miniature French Bulldog, Micro Frenchie, or Mini Frenchie without existing documentation. No AKC, UKC, or CKC papers required. Owners whose existing papers say "French Bulldog" can register with DKC to receive supplemental documentation correctly identifying their dog's breed. DKC registration does not conflict with existing AKC papers.
